Sometimes in an AFOL community, we forget who the LEGO Group's main target is. So it's nice to be reminded with such a nice MOC from a younger LEGO enthusiast.

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Pirates over the ages have loved to steal treasure. They also enjoyed collecting trophies, in particular the hat of the ship or military port they were raiding.

Pirates loved to collect trophies

Capt. Kirk rebuilt his first pirate MOC, The Captain's Tricorner. Some pirates are trying to get away with the Captain's hat but they will have to make it through the guards first. Once back safely on their ship they can happily gloat and show off their new prize.

SeaBoard MOC by NewRight

Oh a great day it was,

when in came the boss,

and said "Matey prepare to set sail".

So we climbed aboard ship,

for quite a long trip,

and expected delay without fail.

But when Fred was on watch,

we were all in the scotch,

we didn't see it coming.

Black walls of clouds,

high above the shrouds,

we didn't find it that funny.

We fought off the gale,

not leaving a trail,

of where we had gone and been.

Sadly it was in vain,

it's an incredible pain,

our ship will never again be seen.

So now here we lay,

hoping and praying,

that someone will find us here.

We expect there is land:

a tree but no sand,

but no-one has yet come near.

By Captain Zuloo.

See this MOC and discover the mystery of the mid-ocean palm tree for yourself.

The Black Meg by DARKspawn

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Often for LEGO ships, the large pre-fabricated hull parts are used, producing good results, but when something is made with a custom hull, it is something special. In this great MOC, DARKspawn has used many clever techniques to give the hull that wooden look, as well as an incredible attention to detail.

Governor by Me Onesies by SirNadroj

"After crashing against a shark infested reef, our lone Imperial Governor is stranded on a small, unstable spit of land. And I think the heat is getting to him..."

Not too long ago, SirNadroj treated us to a beautiful MOC - The Drunken Kraken. She was a sturdy ship, said by some to be unsinkable, so it came as a great surprise to Eurobricks members when she was found at the bottom of the ocean! I guess that's just what happens when sailing in enemy waters...
