Yargh!
Whilst pirates usually carry mermaid or anchor tattoos on their arm, some Lego pirate fans choose a pirate tattoo on their turn. There’s not much left of the fact that Lego was designed to be a kid’s toy. Lego tatoos is an AFOL thing for sure, and they exist of many more themes!

An Islander and his pig share this lovely hut!
Islanders have always been a fun branch off of the Pirate’s theme. Mariko brings us this lovely hut and statue built for every common Islander to enjoy. With an awesome statue, tiki torches, and a pig by their side, who wouldn’t want to visit this lovely home?

A Rock and a Hard Place
MrBrick&BoB brings us his latest creation, from Germany. The rocky island of New Providence holds this magnificent outpost. It’s diffcult to appreciate the real beauty of this build in a small photo like the one here on the blog. The rock work is some of the best I’ve seen with natural erosion patterns including an archway. The real majesty though is in the texture of the outpost itself. It looks as though it’s been beaten by the salty wind and waves, yet stands strong against the storms to protect the soldiers inside. You won’t want to miss the detailed close-up photos of the fort and the soldiers arriving by boat across the choppy waters.

Crossing the Bridge
Corioso has created this wonderful diorama with a group of Spanish explorers crossing a rickety bridge. The minifig combinations here really work great and there is a lot of life in the posing of them. The build itself has many great techniques including SNOT, wonderful slope sculpting, and some really nice riverside trees. You owe it to yourself to take a look at the thread for some great closeup photos.

"Well Jack, this seems like a safe place to go ashore"
Coming back from a raid, these pirates find themselves on an island where the natives don’t look very friendly. An easy night by the campfire probably won’t happen. The story is funny, and the MOC is nice as well, with an interesting cave, a large statue and more.

Isn't she a beauty?
This vessel built by Sebeus I is referred to as “The Beauty”, and it certainly lives up to its name. This Polacca features some great details that are always present in Sebeus’ builds including a great color scheme, custom sails, and an awesome crew.

Turns out the world is flat.
Having seen this MOC in person, I can say it’s incredible. From the beautifully built pub to the rock base it lives on, this is one stunning MOC. Besides looking great on the outside, this has a full interior and a beautiful view of the nearby waterfall. This is a MOC you have to see, did I mention it won Best Small Building at the 2012 Brickworld?

None shall pass.
Our News Scout Horry brings us a nice little Vignette called Jolly Roger. It has all the classic-pirates elements, Pirates, skeletons, and sharks. I really like how he designed the teeth, the have just the right curve and a clever use of some pieces if you look closely.

The art of surprise?
Flickr user Mark of Falworth has created a great battle scene with some of the best foliage that I’ve ever seen. It looks so natural yet not overbearing of the scene. Will the ambush work?

Palm trees and Armada soldiers: check!
Typical tall windows, large doors, holy water and a statue of Saint Joseph are some of the things you’ll find in this Spanish Catholic mission from the 16th century. Eurobricks member Hiawatha did a nice job on this MOC, and the lighting looks good as well, representing sunset in Florida.

An online ship battle played with your own LEGO ship!
Some time ago there was a trial of this game. Now it is perfectionized by Eurobricks member Horry. This game features real LEGO ships while it can be played online. We’re still looking for participants. All you need to do is get yourself familiarized with the rules, and enter by making a bird’s eye view picture of your ship. May the best pirate win!

Work from Home
Lighthouses crop up a lot in the pirates theme, but it’s not so common to see a whole little scene built up for it. Instead of just having a stone building on a rock island, BardJaskier has created a great little scene here with some surprising details and a very nice lighthouse too!
