Hello mateys! Time for another update on the Design a NEW LEGO Pirate Sub-Theme project! Since the last update, there has been substantial progress. If you haven’t yet heard of the project, please visit the Project Overview thread. If you haven’t read the first update, you can find it here.
It has only been a couple days since the close of the sub-theme suggestions, but the management team, led by Classic-Pirates LEGO Ambassador Mister Phes, is already working hard on choosing the best and most popular sub-themes.
The poll options shall be…
- The West Brick Trading Company
- Quest for the Lost City
- The Settlers
- The Treasure Fleet
A more detailed synopsis of each sub-theme will be available soon so keep your eyes peeled for the poll in which you’ll have the opportunity to vote. The sub-theme with the most votes will be the one we develop!
Got a question? Visit the Questions and Answers thread and ask away!
At this very moment, fruitful discussion on the design and build techniques that the project designers will have to stick to is taking place. If you want to add anything or give you thoughts…
Visit the Definition of Design Constraints thread!

Star Wars Figbarf
Flickr user Adam Dodge has posted this creative picture of pirate figures meant to represent characters from the Star Wars universe. It’s a great idea and well executed, as any Star Wars fan should be able to identify who the figures represent. He has incorporated pieces from classic pirates all the way to pieces from Pirates of the Caribbean and even other themes. If you check out his photostream he also has some other great creations.

X marks the spot
EB member Mestari created this neat little vignette, depicting pirates burying their treasure. The leafy tree, owl, and layering ground texture, give this MOC an inland feel. Most MOCs of this nature are beach scenes, so it’s nice to see this activity in a different setting.

Small Soldiers’ Outpost
Eurobricks member Mestari has shared with us his first pirate MOC! He has built a small outpost for a couple soldiers and it looks like something straight from the 1990’s pirate theme! Even with its classic feel, there are some modern updates, such as a custom Governor’s daughter. She’s probably the one who planted all the flowers. Mestari was even nice enough to upload instructions for this set if you wish to build it yourself.

Ahoy there mates! It has only been 12 days since the launch of the Design A NEW LEGO Pirates Sub-Theme project and there has already been a quite substantial amount of progress.
The Design A NEW LEGO Pirates Sub-Themes project was initiated by the Classic-Pirates LEGO Ambassador, Mister Phes. He, along with a few other chaps, will ensure that this project will reach its maximum potential. The goal of the project is to eventually submit a presentation to the LEGO Group via the LEGO Ambassador Project and reposition Pirates as one of LEGO’s “evergreen” themes alongside City, Castle and Space. If you want to learn more, please visit the Overview or Q&A threads.
At this phase, sub-theme suggestions are currently being submitted and will continue to be until the deadline which is April 26. If you would like to suggest a LEGO Pirate sub-theme, please take a look at the Sub-Theme Suggestions thread. If you have a question concerning sub-theme suggestions, please look at the Sub-Theme Suggestions – Q&A thread.
As a reminder, please remember that the deadline for sub-theme suggestions is April 26 -that date will come sooner than you think. Behind the scenes, Mister Phes and others have been working diligently to make this project fruitful. Thus, keep an eye out on the Pirate forums as new developments will be surfacing in the near future.

Captain Redbeard Blindeye
Flickr user and EB member Sparkytron constructed this awesome Bionicle pirate. This is something we don’t see often in the Pirates forum or in the Bionicle realm for that matter. Very creative part usage, and building techniques almost make this model come alive. This truly is the best Bionicle MOC ever!

Pass me another bottle
The amazing angles on this little shack will get you wondering “How”. Throughout the build, Legonardo has used parts in wonderful unintended ways. There are quite a few very nice close up detail photos in the post. All the strange angles in the build really make for a lively scene even though it has no live minifigures roaming.
Discuss Pirates Hideout in the forum.

Isle De Arco
Flickr user K.kreations made this awesome MOC for the 2014 MocAthalon, Pirates’ Haven category. The rock work is just stunning! He has also incorporated great new part usage. Definitely one of the best pirate MOCs I have seen in a little while!

14 Gun Brig: Pinnacle
Mr. Townsend has shared his ship building expertise again with us, this time in the form of a 14 gun brig called the Pinnacle. He has displayed some amazing custom sails that look very authentic, and even used 5 different kinds of string to simulate the rigging. The blue flag is a great touch as well. Bow to stern this sailing ship is a masterpiece.
To view more pictures of the 14 Gun Brig: Pinnacle check out the forum.
