“You there. Boy – help an old blind beggar to the door will ya? Now! Take me to Black Dog!”
If you have no idea what that is, it’s from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. The same place as this outstanding MOC.

Georgio’s Isle by Paul cantu

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

A strange island cropped in the LEGO® Caribbean. Below lies the wreckage of a mighty vessel now laying waste to animals and plants that may want to use it as their new home. However, it also sports a tree house built high up to be used as a resting place for weary travellers or even a hide out for bandits, either way it is welcoming and a friendly place.

Lying on tope of the wrekage of a mighty ship the multileveled island is somewhat unstable.

Lying on top of the wreckage of a mighty ship the multilevelled island is somewhat unstable.

Paul cantu has created for us a amazing multilevelled island resting on top of supportive pillars. A long lost ship is now home to many creatures who feed off the remains of what was left on board…

Le Baton Rouge, by “Big Daddy” Nelson

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

“Big Daddy” Nelson, an admin of the Forbidden Cove, has created a wonderful alternative version of the 6242 Soldier’s Fort. Although the modules are based upon the new style of the original 6242 set, he did use some of the classic minifigs and parts. As you can see, it worked out just fine!

Its an Imperial lightening rod!

It's an Imperial lightening rod!

The Wreck of the Hesperus by NewRight

Click to see the Hesperus in LEGO by NewRight in the pirate forum.
“WRECK OF THE HESPERUS”
It was the schooner Hesperus,
That sailed the wintery sea;
And the skipper had taken his little daughter,
To bear him company…

…At daybreak, on the bleak sea-beach,
A fisherman stood aghast,
To see the form of a maiden fair,
Lashed close to a drifting mast.

The salt sea was frozen on her breast,
The salt tears in her eyes;
And he saw her hair, like the brown sea-weed,
On the billows fall and rise.

Such was the wreck of the Hesperus,
In the midnight and the snow!
Christ save us all from a death like this,
On the reef of Norman’s Woe!

The NEW Shipyard Ranking System

Shipyard Ranking System Announcement

For many months now a team of dedicated volunteers have been working within The Shipyard to produce the content which appears daily on the frontpage of Classic-Pirates.com.

“The Shipyard?” you ask?  The Shipyard is a hidden VIP sub-forum within the LEGO Pirates Forum where volunteers work on special projects.

We want to begin rewarding our volunteers for their contributions so we’re implementing a ranking system which enables them to receive promotions for the quality and quantity of their contributions.   Each rank has it’s own tag and special priveleges which increase with each rank. There will also be contests exclusive to The Shipyard so only those who are part of the Ranking System will be able to participate.

Get yourself to the LEGO Pirates Forum to learn more
about the NEW Shipyard Ranking System!

The Black Pearl by Brian Heins

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Bonaparte has found pictures of this magnificent Lego pirate battleship in the Flickr gallery of a user called funkg177. After some investigation it seems to be the Black pearl, build by Brian Heins who also was the provider of the Pirates sets in the exhibition in Taiwan where these pictures were taken!

Click here to discuss Brian's Black Pearl on the Classic Pirates forum.

Even the BSB looks tiny compared to this giant…Brian stopped counting bricks at 150,000, and the ship was recently valued at an amazing 15,000 USD !

Schooner Geisha by Wes

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Geisha was originally designed by Wes for use in Evil Stevie’s Pirate Game (a class 3 ship), but this beautiful MOC is now (re)presented on the Classic Pirates forum!

Click to discuss Geisha in the Classic Pirates forum.

A Schooner-Class ship.

Wes: Geisha’s name was inspired by Arthur Golden’s Memoirs of a Geisha, a book I own that was made into a movie. It also relates to the white color of the ship’s hull (think white facepaint).

Go over to discuss Wes’ Geisha in the Pirates forum.
