Alternate instructions from the 1990s
Anyone remember LEGO Idea Books? They were released as a way to promote creative building and show ways to build alternate sets. They included some interesting Pirate stuff too! Thanks to Classic-Pirates.com News Scout SirSven7 we can now take a good look at those special sets from the 1990s!

Perfect blend of chaos and craftsmanship!
Eurobricks member Corioso perfectly blends the fleshy figures from LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, LEGO Harry Potter and LEGO Prince of Persia into this superb MOC. The figures are not the only highlight here as Corioso also built interior spaces in all the buildings and provides many well taken photos of the whole creation to let a story unfold.

With an impressive lion on the sail!
Another ship for the Spanish fleet is setting sail! It’s a very detailed and beautifully decorated galleon. Not only the ship itself is a pleasure to the eye, the whole presentation looks great, with some rather professional pictures showing the ship in 360 degrees.

And now for something completely different.
Eurobrick’s member Basiliscus shows us something we do not see very often, a colorful Mayan MOC. Basiliscus says the MOC was built to go along with the red and tan geometrical pattern featured on its floor. The geometrical pattern is not the only thing that makes this MOC great. I love the minifigures’ inventive tribal dress (especially the black and red priest), the statues on the temple and docking area and the brick-built canoe.

Imperial Trading Post Redux... Redux...
This is not just another ForbiddenCove.com Jolly Roger Contest entry, this is a beautiful re-imagining of a classic pirate set. Peter deYeule’s version of the classic set really does feel like a place where merchants bring their wares. The highlights of Peter’s version include a light house on the tiled docks, two well built cranes and a great, updated trading ship.

Beautiful detailing make this pirate town come to life!
Piazza is alive! Not only has Flickr member Hardegon done a great job with the larger aspects of this MOC, like the houses and great tiling work on the streets, but also with all the small details, like a fountain, street light, medieval statue and all the merchants peddling their wares. The details are certainly the best aspect of any MOC and these details make this town pop.

A whole world of LEGO Pirate excitement!
LEGOLANDs are famous for their Minilands, areas where cities and other environments are recreated in LEGO form. The new LEGOLAND Florida has an entire section dedicated to LEGO Pirates, complete with mini-scale ships, a harbor town, shipworks, and a reappearance by Captain Redbeard! Insidethemagic has a photostream on flickr with a lot of awesome pictures. Check it out here.

Breathtaking!
Carl Greatrix, also known as bricktrix, is a designer working on LEGO computer games. Recently he uploaded rendered images of the Flying Dutchman, a ship that he designed for the Pirates of the Caribbean computer game. It’s not made with real bricks, but it’s simply stunning anyway! Take a look at this beauty!

The Liberty Inn
Classic-Pirates own ZCerberus has made a stunning Inn for your Pirate crew to pillage. The details make this MOC just look right. From the curved stone walls to the balcony, and tiling details this MOC looks better then LEGO’s own Medieval Market Village in my opinion. The details are much more pronounced; the roof, the windows, the stone work and just about everything else is a much more detailed that market set. Be sure to check it out!

The Rescue of Miss Take
Forbidden Cove Member Jalkow has created a fantastic scene of a witch hunt for a contest at the Forbidden Cove. There are some great details to be had here like the bat wings as clouds attached to that clever moon. The setup is great and the fine detials are what really make this MOC shine.

LEGO elements are even used for the rigging!
Sir Francis Drake’s Golden Hinde is famous for circumnavigating the globe. Brickshelf member t-brick brings us a new interpretation on Drake’s flagship with this wholly brick-built beauty. All the detail seems just right, from the perfect English galleon shape to the gorgeous color scheme.
