Tiny Black Pearl

It's nigh uncatchable...and also tiny!

Eurobricks member Sebeus Iniwum gives us a few adorable itty-bitty ships, the most exciting of which is the tiny Black Pearl!  The shape of the ship is captured charmingly in miniature, with clever use of pieces like the Collectible Mini figure stand.  It’s a great little MOC that deserves a close study.

Volcano Island Outpost, where are the boats?

Captain Heineken has brought us a a small outpost where the bluecoats can stand guard for any incoming redcoats. It may be small but it is designed well. I especially like the walls made out of 1 x 1 round bricks. I don’t think any redcoats will be getting by this outpost anytime soon. I wonder how those bluecoats are going to switch out shifts?

LEGO Pirate Fort Outworks by Skipper

Skipper did the homework, read the tutorial and you will know this is a hornwork

Eurobrick’s member Skipper follows up on Horry’s excellent Fortifications of the Sailing Age tutorial with a lesson on the outworks of a fortress.  Skipper explains that outworks are defenses constructed beyond the main fort to protect the fort from enemy field batteries, increase general firepower, fortify a weak area, or simply extend control of the area.  Skipper did an excellent job of including links to real world examples of the outworks covered in the tutorial even though his LEGO representations of each are spot on.  Use this tutorial in conjunction with Horry’s to build the most epic fortress ever seen on Classic-Pirates!

LEGO Pirate Fortifications of the Sailing Age by Horry

Learning is good, learning in LEGO is better!

The Age of Sail brought forth more than just advancements in sailing and gunpowder, but also in fortifications.  Classic-Pirates own Horry delivers an excellent tutorial on the evolution of fortifications from the Medieval Period to the Age of Sail.  Horry’s three part history lesson (complete with pictures) will get you thinking about how to create that perfect Imperial Guard fortress you have been itching to build.  Check out the tutorial, then start designing your perfect citadel and casemates now!

The new LEGO Ideas book...Pirates within!

The new LEGO Ideas Book from DK was released last September, and has a few pages of interest for Pirate fans.  It shows you how to make parrots, cannons, and a treasure chest.  Also pictured are a few pirate ships and even a shipwreck!  You can check out some of the book at the Amazon page.

Republic of Texas Navy

RTS Zavala of the Republic of Texas Navy

Eurobricks member RTN LNA has put together a Navy from an alternate history of Texas.  It was posted here some time ago, but the Navy was on display at Brick Fiesta this year, and we’re bringing it back as a blast from the past!  There are several vessels here, so it’s definitely worth a look.

Ruins of Palenque, a Mayan-inspired LEGO MOC by Capt. Stabbin

Relics of a Mayan city.

Classic-Pirates.com user Capt. Stabbin has built this MOC inspired by a real-life Mayan city called Palenque. It really catches the feel of the original – you can tell it yourself by comparing it to the picture provided by Capt. Stabbin himself in the forum thread.

LEGO Pirate MOC Forgotten Outpost by Trevor Van Aalst

The outpost may have been forgotten, but the MOC certainly hasn't!

Check out this great creation from Flickr member Trevor Van Aalst!  Unlike some of the bustling MOCs we have seen lately, Trevor made this MOC convey a feeling of abandonment yet he did not skimp on the details to do so.  Notice the custom palm tree, brick-built tattered sail, perfectly lifeless minifigures and the beginning signs of decay in the nicely built round tower.  Subtly is harder to achieve than chaos, so let’s give three cheers to Trevor for pulling it off so flawlessly.

She's lonely, but collects heads for company

Zeya brings us a MOC of a mermaid on her perch.  The collection of heads and skulls tells me that she isn’t always alone. Be sure to visit the forum to comment on this great MOC and other Pirates of the Caribbean related MOC’s

LEGO Pirate Take all you can MOC Peter deYeule

You can almost hear the pirate captain screaming, "Take all you can!!!"

This isn’t the first time our news scouts have stumbled across a nice MOC by Flickr member Peter deYeule and it almost certainly will not be the last.  This time Peter gives us an action scene of a pirate raid on a New England town.  According to the creator himself, the pirates seek all the food, gold, beer, water and prisoners they can take.  There is a lot of fine detail in this MOC, from the SNOT water to the tiled animal barn to the flames on the villagers’ roofs.  Head to the forum for a link to even more pictures of this creation now!

The mysterious fort known only as Pirates 2

Our News Scout has been busy looking for Pirate creations worthy of the classic-pirates.com blog. Today we have a fort known only as Pirates 2. It is a beautifully made fort that even has a grassy section for the royal cows to graze.

The review of 6249 Pirates Ambush and other Pirate sets at Adequate.com

Just an example - there are other reviews too!

A long time ago lots of interesting reviews of old LEGO Pirate sets were published on a website known as Adequate.com. Those were very imaginative, with a special made-up backstory for each set. That site has not been updated for years, but the old reviews are still there, and they’re really worth taking a look at!

As a taste of what you can find there, we’ve posted their review of 6249 Pirates Ambush at Classic-Pirates.com forum. It was written by Joseph Gonzales back in 1997! We chose this set as it has not yet been reviewed on our website. Feel free to read it, and if you like it, proceed to other reviews at Adequate.com, and discuss them in our forum!

LEGO Pirate Grand Armee Customization by DucadiYork

Napoleon's army never looked so sharp!

Classic-Pirates.com has been blessed with its fair share of excellent Napoleonic War customizers and Eurobricks newcomer DucadiYork shows he should be counted among them.  The Italian customizer is molding his own weapons and articles of clothing as well as modifying LEGO elements including helmets and saddles to outfit his “Grand Armèe”.  This project looks like a massive undertaking and though it has just begun, DucadiYork has already produced several finished figures.  This looks like a thread to watch, so get to the forum and bookmark it now!

One of many Ships in the TRAFALGAR

Gobernator and the Hispalug Members have created a massive Diorama including 29 ships and more than 300 mini figures.  From wrecked ships, to the  British Armada this Diorama is impressive with the number and quality of ships included. You’ll see a few familiar faces in the LEGO ships line, but there are many customs as well. Definitely worth a look.
