Need inspiration for TOR III round 1?
Perhaps you’ve heard of a builder named SlyOwl, if not, you REALLY need to hit the web more. SlyOwl is one of the most prolific builders ever and here we take a look at an older MOC showing islanders facing off with piratey foes! There are some great details like the bloody sand, the beach that slopes upwards, the pirate being charred black by the angry islander priest and the wizard hat used as water poured from a barrel! As it so happens, this MOC also contains the subject matter of the first round of the Tournament of Retribution III, islanders! Do not forget to sign up for TORIII while you take a gander at SlyOwl’s work.
Dust off your old MOCs, sign up for TORIII and discuss Pirates vs. Islanders in the forum.

Fear the wrath of - Is that a Hello Kitty flag!?
Zergu just completed a great diorama of a Redcoat Bastion. They are quite the army and shouldn’t be messed with. Still, they better not let the Bluecoats see their flag or they’ll never hear the end of it.
Discuss the Soldier’s Bastion in the forum.

We bow before you CMF priest!
LEGO may not be producing new pirate themed sets now, but we can still load up on pirate minifigures! With every wave of new CMFs, we get opportunities to build new and unique figures to populate our MOCs. Buurli_Burri blends the Aztec warrior and hula girl figures with and islander’s hair piece to make this cool Aztec priest.
Mix and match your CMFs then discuss Aztec Priest in the forum.

French Frigate Minerve (20 guns)
A majestic ship built by Eurobricks heavyweights Bonaparte and Captain Green Hair, this ship has custom sails and rigging that may just take your breath away. If you are in Belgium, you might get a chance to see it in person, but at least the rest of us can enjoy viewing the photos and discussing such a wonderful ship in the forum.

Look out for that shark!
While Legoland Florida may have its own Miniland section devoted entirely to LEGO pirates, they also boast an impressive shipwreck in their Florida section. This great photo best captures the angle and details of the scene.
Watch out for the shark, then discuss the Underwater Shipwreck in the forum.

Are you salty enough?
Yes that’s right! Game’s on! The most epic duel between Redcoats and Bluecoats continues in yet another Tournament of Retribution! The previous two tournaments have been a great succes, so we decided to start a new one. And there’s a fantastic prize pool for you to win even if you’re not a great builder. This is also a good opportunity for new members to get involved into the pirates community. Reason enough to load your rifle and sign up!

Looks like a peaceful place...
If you’re a pirate fan (which is probably the case since you’re reading this), then you should already have played The Secret of Monkey Island, a fantastic and humoristic point & click game that tells the story of a man who desperately wants to be a pirate. You may think “Why do he talk about a computer game? I came here to see wonderful pirate MOC!”. Well, Tom Remy has created a full story clearly inspired by this fantastic game (did I tell you that you MUST play it?), which is really funny. But don’t get too distracted and take your time to enjoy this wonderful MOC with stunning technics and light effects.

Lights, camera, awesome!
Another new creation by TheBrickAvenger shows the power of good photography. The build is clean and beautiful, I especially like the two-tone sand and the palm tree, but the MOC is enhanced greatly by the perfectly clean background and evenly lit photo.
Sharpen your photography skills then discuss The Spanish Fort in the forum.

Boom goes the dynamite!
A little birdy told me the redcoats may soon be seeking some retribution. There is no faster path to revenge than a big old explosion. Horry does an awesome job of capturing a MOC that looks like it is in mid explosion! I am especially fond of the smoke and the way the building is flying apart.

Check out that rigging!
It’s more common for pirate builders to build Spanish or British ships, as they are more renowned for running into Pirates. However Elephant Knight decided to build this American vessel instead. The details, rigging, and color scheme work so well. What do you think of this adaption of the USS Constitution?

Arrr! What be these allegations?
23 years (!) after seeing the light of day, it appears that one of the greatest Lego sets of all times, the pirate ship Black Seas Barracuda (also known as Dark Shark in Europe) still had some secrets well hidden or long-forgotten… The time has come to uncover everything, and you might be surprised!

Oh no! Spinoza jumps aboard the Seahawk... with the map!
Eurobricks member moschino shares with us one of the first LEGO Pirates commercials. Made in a time when computer animated video’s didn’t exist, this stop-motion film is nevertheless great fun to look at. It’s an exciting adventure about the epic battle between Pirates and Bluecoats, fighting over a treasure map. Not to mention the nostalgic value to most of us!
