The end of LEGO Pirates by mid 2010

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Dear LEGO Pirate fans,

Today the burden to bring you sad news rests upon my shoulders. The LEGO Ambassadors have been informed that LEGO Pirates theme will be discontinued by mid 2010. We were told that the new Pirates line wasn't designed to be an ongoing theme this time, so it's only going to be on the shelves until second half next year by when it will disappear. This means there's not a new line designed for LEGO Pirates for 2010. There is some hope that LEGO Pirates might be back one day because the theme did sell rather well.

Share your thoughts and feeling about this sad news in our forum. Your feedback will be relayed to the LEGO Community team by your Classic-Pirates.com ambassador.

Bonaparte, Ambassador Classic-Pirates.com

Update from Steve Witt (LEGO Community team):

Just so you know, Pirates isn't gone its on hiatus like every other line that isn't one of our primary themes: CASTLE, SPACE, and CITY

Pirates isn't going away, its just not going to be a constant theme. Its going to phase in and out just like every other theme that isn't one of those three. Everyone is freaking out just a bit too much on this one and I just wanted to reassure you guys that pirates isn't disappearing. Just taking a break

Steve

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on Classic-Pirates.com

Pirates of the Caribbean, based on the Disneyland ride of the same name,  is one of the most successful Pirate trilogies out there. With a swashbuckling Cap'n Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) at the helm, the 3 films were fantasticly produced. And now there has been an official announcement by Johnny Depp himself that there will be  fourth film coming in Summer of 2011. There are mixed feelings about this, some saying that Disney doesn't know when to quit, others saying that the new film sounds brilliant.

What do you think about this? Share your thoughts in the Pirate forum!

Visiting The Amsterdam on Classic-Pirates.com

A week ago, Classic-Pirates.com members YnyklY and Cap'n Blackmoor were lucky enough to find themselves on the decks of the Amsterdam, the replica of the VOC ship by the same name. An amazing experience for them, Blackmoor was kind enough to share some of the photos he took of the adventure in the Pirates forum.

The Battle Rages On…

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Standing on opposite sides of the battlefield, Redcoats and Bluecoats stare at each other, hatred burning in their eyes. An orange fox in pirate attire steps between the two: moderator doubling as a mediator Zorro determines which side goes first. Redcoats begin! Bluecoats begin! All around the Mediterranean, one army raises scaffolding while the other assigns spies. That's right, Pirate fans - the 1st Annual Redcoat VS. Bluecoat Tournament of Retribution is well under way!Tournament of Retibution on Classic-Pirates.comFour skirmishes are currently in progress in the Pirate forum. These are...

Raging Redcoats Regiment vs. Out of the Blue

Courageous Redcoat Company vs. Big Bad Blues

Bloody Brilliant Redcoats vs. Bluecoat Team 3

Ravenous Redcoats vs. Blue Thunder

Each team has spectacular builders and fantastic entries - but only one side can prevail. As devoted team members work to get in their two vignettes, the tournament judges have the difficult job of choosing the winning side amongst the hordes of notable creations. Twenty creations must be taken into account per thread, each being scored points for build, wit, historical accuracy, and much more. And so far, the judges have been presented with a difficult challenge!

Part of that challenge, unfortunately, involves finding the entries themselves. Useless spam, cruel insults, and other garbage have been paraded around each tournament thread, and something has to be done about it. There are some comments that are constructive, and others that are not. Try to stop bashing the other side - though at times, it can seem so fun - and provide criticism and compliments that don't insult or upset someone else. We're glad that everyone's having fun, but this is just a game.

Are some of you in the dark and somehow have no idea what this commotion is? You can learn all about it in the tournament enlistment thread!
