The pirates finally got tired of pillaging, plundering and looting, and decided to partake in more civilised hobbies, letting life return to normal for the poor afflicted soldiers, civilians, islanders and sea monsters: a period of peace and prosperity has arrived! From taking tea with the Governor to bombarding their sweethearts with barrages of roses, this next chapter of the Pillage the Village saga explores the unchartered waters of peaceful pirates, impotent imperials, carefree civilians, Do they polish the cannons, or polish off the rum? Race their rowing boats, or repair the harbor? Chill out under a palm tree, or cut it down to build a shack? Explore foreign territories, or the local brothels?

Classic-Pirates.com LEGO Ambassador Bonaparte brings us sad news this time. The pirates line will discontinue in the middle of 2010! Lucky enough it is a break, which means the Pirate theme will come back sometime in the future. But for how long do we have to wait? Some people think it will be a year, other people are afraid it takes another couple of years like the previous Pirates line. Since the new Pirate sets sell like hot cakes, and all the positive upcoming Pirate sets speculations it is unexpected news the line will take a break during 2010.

Dear LEGO Pirate fans,
Today the burden to bring you sad news rests upon my shoulders. The LEGO Ambassadors have been informed that LEGO Pirates theme will be discontinued by mid 2010. We were told that the new Pirates line wasn't designed to be an ongoing theme this time, so it's only going to be on the shelves until second half next year by when it will disappear. This means there's not a new line designed for LEGO Pirates for 2010. There is some hope that LEGO Pirates might be back one day because the theme did sell rather well.
Share your thoughts and feeling about this sad news in our forum. Your feedback will be relayed to the LEGO Community team by your Classic-Pirates.com ambassador.

Update from Steve Witt (LEGO Community team):
Just so you know, Pirates isn't gone its on hiatus like every other line that isn't one of our primary themes: CASTLE, SPACE, and CITY
Pirates isn't going away, its just not going to be a constant theme. Its going to phase in and out just like every other theme that isn't one of those three. Everyone is freaking out just a bit too much on this one and I just wanted to reassure you guys that pirates isn't disappearing. Just taking a break
Pirates of the Caribbean, based on the Disneyland ride of the same name, is one of the most successful Pirate trilogies out there. With a swashbuckling Cap'n Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) at the helm, the 3 films were fantasticly produced. And now there has been an official announcement by Johnny Depp himself that there will be fourth film coming in Summer of 2011. There are mixed feelings about this, some saying that Disney doesn't know when to quit, others saying that the new film sounds brilliant.
