The Battle Rages On…

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Standing on opposite sides of the battlefield, Redcoats and Bluecoats stare at each other, hatred burning in their eyes. An orange fox in pirate attire steps between the two: moderator doubling as a mediator Zorro determines which side goes first. Redcoats begin! Bluecoats begin! All around the Mediterranean, one army raises scaffolding while the other assigns spies. That's right, Pirate fans - the 1st Annual Redcoat VS. Bluecoat Tournament of Retribution is well under way!Tournament of Retibution on Classic-Pirates.comFour skirmishes are currently in progress in the Pirate forum. These are...

Raging Redcoats Regiment vs. Out of the Blue

Courageous Redcoat Company vs. Big Bad Blues

Bloody Brilliant Redcoats vs. Bluecoat Team 3

Ravenous Redcoats vs. Blue Thunder

Each team has spectacular builders and fantastic entries - but only one side can prevail. As devoted team members work to get in their two vignettes, the tournament judges have the difficult job of choosing the winning side amongst the hordes of notable creations. Twenty creations must be taken into account per thread, each being scored points for build, wit, historical accuracy, and much more. And so far, the judges have been presented with a difficult challenge!

Part of that challenge, unfortunately, involves finding the entries themselves. Useless spam, cruel insults, and other garbage have been paraded around each tournament thread, and something has to be done about it. There are some comments that are constructive, and others that are not. Try to stop bashing the other side - though at times, it can seem so fun - and provide criticism and compliments that don't insult or upset someone else. We're glad that everyone's having fun, but this is just a game.

Are some of you in the dark and somehow have no idea what this commotion is? You can learn all about it in the tournament enlistment thread!

    Prins Willem Replica Destroyed

    Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Prins Willem replica destroyed in fire: A sad day for all
At about midnight on the 30th of July 2009, the replica 17th Century VOC ship 'Prins Willem' was destroyed by fire. A sad day to many pirate fans, history fans and lovers of beautiful things, the loss is tragic to the world. Although only a replica, there is a rapidly decreasing number of tall ships in the world, so news of this ship burning to the ground is shattering. Built in 1985, the ship has been an attraction, an inspiration and an amazing insight into 17th Century ships - now, she is reduced to ash, her steel frame and a memory.

Visit the Pirate forum to pay your respects and let us know what you'll miss about the Prins Willem replica.

    The Countdown Begins!

    Thursday, July 30th, 2009

As of late, the ongoing battle between Redcoat and Bluecoat supporters - a conflict that taken the Pirate Forum by storm since 2005 - has finally met its day of reckoning. That day is tomorrow, July 30: the scheduled starting point of the 1st Annual Redcoat VS. Bluecoat Tournament of Retribution, lead by Commodore Hornbricker and Martin Super. And is the only place you can tune in to for LIVE coverage of the brawl!

    Tournament of Retibution on

Once Tournament Moderator and respected forum Admiral Zorro randomly selects which team will be facing which, each member builds two MOCs that aim to brutally humiliate and disrespect the opposing team. Once each team member has built and posted their two creations, judges will decide which group is the victor by using set criteria, such as which vignettes were the funniest, which creations were the best built, and which people posed the better bribe.

Want to know more about the rules of the tournament? Go to the enlistment thread to learn all about them!

Even if you're not participating in the contest, you can still join in the fun. The Redcoat VS. Bluecoat battle is still raging throughout the forum! You can visit the Redcoat VS. Bluecoat thread to slander the other side, and monitor in the coming days for updates and information about the 1st Annual Redcoat VS. Bluecoat Tournament of Retribution!

    New Pirates sets on

Forum user The Cobra was looking on S@H when he made a great discovery - more Pirates sets! Well, maybe more a game then a set, but still just as exciting. The new Pirates line seems to have enjoyed its fair share of merchandise recently, and this is a great addition! Many people have also suggested using this set as a cheap way of aquiring the governor and captain plus some soldiers and the wench. This is certainly a set we didn't see coming - did you?
