During the month of August we've done a survey on Classic-Pirates.com in which you, our members, could share your wishes for the future of LEGO pirates. Although we've received sad news in the mean time of the discontinuation of the current Pirates line, our report was not a waste of time if you take into account the time it takes to develop a new LEGO set (= around one year).
For those interested, I'm sharing the full report as it was send to LEGO in the beginning of September 2009. This report is based on your inputs that have been sorted in order of importance based on the number of requests for each idea.
You can download the report (pdf-format) here.
Or you can discuss the report on our forums via this link.
The pirates finally got tired of pillaging, plundering and looting, and decided to partake in more civilised hobbies, letting life return to normal for the poor afflicted soldiers, civilians, islanders and sea monsters: a period of peace and prosperity has arrived! From taking tea with the Governor to bombarding their sweethearts with barrages of roses, this next chapter of the Pillage the Village saga explores the unchartered waters of peaceful pirates, impotent imperials, carefree civilians, Do they polish the cannons, or polish off the rum? Race their rowing boats, or repair the harbor? Chill out under a palm tree, or cut it down to build a shack? Explore foreign territories, or the local brothels?
Yargh, the prize pool of Pillage the Village II has been announced! With a loot worth an arm and a leg, this contest just got a whole heap better!
Check out the prize pool in the Pirates forum!
The Great Western LEGO® show is the largest LEGO show in the UK. It is held at the Museum of the Great Western Railway in Swindon on 3rd and 4th October 2009. It features a wide variety of displays from Pirates, Cars and Space through to Technic and Trains. There will also be building workshops where the public can get involved with the expert builders to help create a 100,000 brick mosaic. Visit the LEGO Shop and other independent LEGO traders for great deals on some exclusive LEGO sets not available on the high street.
We will have a Classic-Pirates.com Crew member at this event and hope to bring back some very cool coverage of the fun!

And happy birthday to Skipper 24!
Classic-Pirates.com LEGO Ambassador Bonaparte brings us sad news this time. The pirates line will discontinue in the middle of 2010! Lucky enough it is a break, which means the Pirate theme will come back sometime in the future. But for how long do we have to wait? Some people think it will be a year, other people are afraid it takes another couple of years like the previous Pirates line. Since the new Pirate sets sell like hot cakes, and all the positive upcoming Pirate sets speculations it is unexpected news the line will take a break during 2010.
