Voting for the Twist of Nostalgia Challenge winners has begun!
And wouldn’t yer know it – there ain’t no traditionally classically piratey submissions up for the vote.
So let’s see what we can scrounge up…
Submissions
Fans have been hopeful for a 6265 Sabre Island remake ever since it topped a Brickset poll asking “Which classic set should be re-imagined for a gift-with-purchase?”
Some speculated such a release may coincide with 10320 Eldorado Fortress, given blue coat Soldier parts were being churned out of the factory at the time.
But alas, nay! And despite the Twist of Nostalgia Challenge attracting some fine Sabre Island re-imaginings, still nada!
So what booty be left in our grasp?
“Sea Serpent” by HallowedBrick02
Not even a re-imagined LEGO Pirate set! This submission be inspired by 6057 Sea Serpent from the Castle theme.
Jagamax writes:
The Black Knights return in this rebooted 6057 Sea Serpent. This reimagination features new functionality with workable rudders, a cargo hold below deck, and a modular stern, allowing for safer storage of high-value cargo.
“This Here Ol’ Chest O’ Booty” by Danolardo
Not exactly a classic set… but rather a staple of the LEGO Pirates theme….

A chest for yer 40504 A Minifigure Tribute Redbeard
Danolardo writes:
Pirates. One of the most nostalgic themes for most people and I included. I knew I had to make something from that and thinking back at my childhood. That treasure chest always came to mind.
So here it is. Up-scaled!
I hope to bring back the memories of fighting off those scallywags and finding the buried treasure from our younger days!
“Christmas Never Gets Old” by Jagamax
This ’tis a wee bit of a long shot, but it does include a microscale 6285 Black Seas Barracuda…

How about Scalawag Sloop as a Gift With Purchase?
Jagamax writes:
Beyond any specific set, I think my favorite childhood memory was discovering LEGO 🌟
I remember walking past toy stores, especially the LEGO Store, hoping to get a set for Christmas, after all my friends had told me about those colorful little bricks ! 🤗
[…] I also have faint memories of trains, ships, and knights that helped me create all kinds of stories around him ! 🤩
Honourable Mentions
And here be a few more submissions what tapped into that classic set vibe very nicely, indeed!
